* Fresh Perspective

Since starting my internship here at Minta Bell Design Group, many fabrics, furniture pieces, and fixtures have caught my eye. The one that stands out the most though is a gorgeous clay lamp. The lamps beautiful white flower detail truly pops against the aqua glaze, giving it a soothing natural look and feel. It’s simply elegant!
Spenser has joined Minta Bell Design Group for the summer, bringing fresh perspective to the team and discovering the exciting challenges of interior design.
* Textile Inspirations

I recently met with Marcie Bronker, a fabric designer, and loved hearing all the inspiration behind her beautiful textiles. She is a true artist and has created a small line of luscious and sophisticated textiles. I especially loved hearing about how she made a jacket out of a crocheted fabric (really meant for windows) and trimmed the sleeves herself during a plane trip after deciding they were too long!
Last week, one of my favorite fabric reps came to see us bringing more inspiration fabrics - one I grabbed out of her hands and refuse to give back.
Here are a few of the new samples we ordered - my mind is buzzing with possibilities!
* Pharsalia Visit
Posted on June 5th, 2009 by Amy. Filed under General, Musings.
I had the joy of visiting Pharsalia last weekend. Pharsalia is a house built in 1814, located between Lynchburg and Charlottesville, Virginia. During the Folk Life Festival, visitors are invited to tour the main rooms of the house along with the outbuildings, including kitchen, laundry and old slave quarters. While I enjoyed the tour of the house, I was and am really enamored with the beautiful pockets of gardens, courtyards and paths. It seemed like every corner I turned afforded a fresh surprise that made me want to snap a picture. The magic of it is that it seems so wild and unplanned….like it just evolved that way.
I particularily liked the pool area - the stone, brick, and branches surrounding the pool create a really natural feel, growing and blending with the landscape.
A very dear THANK YOU to Foxy and Dick Morgan for allowing us to tramp through their house and gardens and breathe in the honeysuckle and lavender!
