* Textile Inspirations
Posted on June 19th, 2009 by Amy. Filed under Fabrics, General.
I recently met with Marcie Bronker, a fabric designer, and loved hearing all the inspiration behind her beautiful textiles. She is a true artist and has created a small line of luscious and sophisticated textiles. I especially loved hearing about how she made a jacket out of a crocheted fabric (really meant for windows) and trimmed the sleeves herself during a plane trip after deciding they were too long!
Last week, one of my favorite fabric reps came to see us bringing more inspiration fabrics - one I grabbed out of her hands and refuse to give back.
Here are a few of the new samples we ordered - my mind is buzzing with possibilities!

The new fabric introductions form the ‘Of the Young and the Restless’ partnership are the film noir of the fabric world. If you prefer dark humor over slapstick then you will love these prints. They are fresh and edgy and I can’t think of anything I have seen so intriguing in recent years.
I had Thorny Rose at home and a friend of mine was aghast and called it Goth Floral. Well, I agree that these fabrics will have an appeal to a limited group, but, I still can see them in an unconventional home for someone that would like an organic element without using traditional floral chintz.
The fabrics are all 100% linen or linen cotton blends. They would make great drapery or pillows, but wouldn’t be suitable for upholstery. All of the fabrics are hand-printed in the U.S.
